Free Wedding Photo Sharing Apps: 7 Free Plans Compared
Seven free wedding photo sharing apps compared on upload caps, upload windows, gallery access, video and first paid price. Every figure verified 3 October 2026.

A free wedding photo sharing app is a real thing, and for a small wedding it can be the whole product. But "free" is designed differently by every company: one caps you at 20 photos, one gives you unlimited uploads into your own Google Drive, one closes the upload window 24 hours after the wedding. This guide compares seven apps on the five limits that actually decide whether the free plan survives your wedding, with every number read from each company's own pricing page on 3 October 2026. We build EventPixel, which is one of the seven, and we say where its free plan is the wrong pick.
Short answer: if you want a free plan to cover the whole wedding without paying, only WedUploader (into your Google Drive) has no photo cap, and its free plan gives you no gallery. Every hosted app caps free somewhere between 20 and 100 uploads. EventPixel and Kululu share the highest cap at 100, but they spend it differently: EventPixel's is 100 photos with a 30-day upload window, Kululu's is 100 photos and videos with a 24-hour window and uploads kept for 7 days. For most weddings the free plan is a test, and the real decision is what the first paid tier costs and includes.
Free wedding photo sharing apps compared (verified 3 October 2026)
| App | Free upload cap | Upload window | Gallery access | Video on free | Guests need app or login | First paid tier |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| EventPixel | 100 photos | Event date + 30 days | 14 days after the event, then locked (kept 12 months) | No (photos only on every plan) | No | $19 / ₹1,499 one-time (Classic), unlimited uploads |
| GuestPix | 50 photos (free demo) | 30 days | Not stated for the free tier | Not listed on the free tier | No | $49 Classic |
| Wedibox | 50 photos | No deadline stated | "Small private gallery for your eyes only"; a year of storage stated for every plan | Not listed on free | No | $29 Embed / $49 Wedding |
| Kululu | 100 photos and videos, standard quality | 24 hours | Uploads saved for 7 days | Yes | No | $39 Plus (500 uploads) |
| Pix Wedding | 20 uploads | Not stated | Not stated | Not stated | No | $49 Starter (promotional, shown against $74) |
| Fotify | 50 photos, optimised quality | 7 days | 7 days | No (guest video from its second paid tier) | No | ₹1,999 per event viewed from India; priced by region |
| WedUploader | None (your Google Drive space) | None, albums never expire | No gallery page on free | Yes | No (the host connects a Google Drive) | $49 one-time, all albums |
Two things the table cannot show. First, every app above lets guests upload from a QR scan in the browser with no app store and no account; that has become the baseline, so it is not a differentiator any more. Second, "gallery access" is the dial most couples miss: a plan can accept photos for a month and still hide them from guests a week later.
The three kinds of "free"
The capped trial. EventPixel, GuestPix, Wedibox, Kululu, Pix Wedding and Fotify all work the same way: the free plan is the full product with an upload counter on it. The cap is the business model. It is set low enough that a real wedding outgrows it, and high enough that you can test with real guests before paying. The caps run from 20 (Pix Wedding) to 100 (EventPixel and Kululu).
Bring your own storage. WedUploader stores nothing itself. Guests upload straight into the couple's Google Drive, so the free plan has no photo cap and the albums never expire. What it lacks is a gallery: the page where guests browse everyone else's uploads is part of its paid package, and the effective limit is the Drive itself, which on a free Google account is 15 GB shared with Gmail and Google Photos.
The generic tool. A Google Photos shared album or a WhatsApp group is free with no cap that matters. They are not wedding apps, and the ways they break are specific enough that we wrote them up separately: Google Photos shared album for a wedding and WhatsApp group for wedding photos. The short version: Google Photos needs every contributor signed into a Google account, and WhatsApp compresses photos unless each guest remembers to send them as documents or in HD.
The five dials that decide whether free survives your wedding
1. The upload cap
Guests take more photos than couples expect. The largest single gallery on EventPixel holds 3,029 guest photos, and a wedding of 100 guests can produce several hundred to a few thousand. A 20-upload or 50-upload cap can be gone before the speeches. Treat any cap under 100 as a demo, not a plan, and check whether videos count against it: on Kululu they do.
2. The upload window
This is when guests can still add photos. Kululu's free window is 24 hours; Fotify's is 7 days; EventPixel's closes 30 days after the event date; Wedibox and WedUploader state no deadline for free. Plenty of guests upload the same night or the next morning, but the aunt who took 200 photos on a real camera uploads the following weekend. A 24-hour window loses her.
3. The gallery access period
This is how long guests can see the album. Kululu keeps free uploads for 7 days and Fotify gives free galleries 7 days of access. EventPixel keeps the gallery open to guests for 14 days after the event and then locks it; nothing is deleted, the host can still download, and upgrading reopens it. Wedibox says every plan stores the gallery for a year after the event, though it describes the free gallery as private to the couple. Read this line before the upload cap: it is the one that produces the "where did our photos go" email.
4. Video
Kululu and WedUploader take video on the free plan. EventPixel does not take video on any plan; the uploader is photos only. GuestPix and Wedibox list photos only on their free tiers and add video on paid packages; Fotify adds guest video clips from its second paid tier. If guest video matters to you, that decides it.
5. Downloads and quality
Kululu's one-click album download starts on its paid plans. EventPixel's free plan lets you download photos individually; the ZIP of every photo is on every paid plan (how the ZIP works). WedUploader's files are already in your Drive, which is the cleanest answer of all. Quality is the quiet part of this dial: Kululu saves free uploads in standard quality and Fotify optimises free-event photos, and EventPixel's own pricing table lists original-quality saves as a paid-plan feature. If the photos might end up in a printed album, compare the paid tiers on this line. Whatever you pick, download once the event is over and keep your own copy.
The seven apps, one by one
EventPixel (free: 100 photos)
The free plan is an event website and upload page guests open by scanning the QR code, with no app and no account, up to 100 guest photos, a live photo wall for a TV at the venue, basic RSVP, and the printable QR signs. The upload window opens on the event date and closes 30 days after it; the gallery stays open to guests for 14 days after the event, then locks. PixelFind face search is a host-only preview on Free and Classic: you can test it, and every guest gets it from Premier. Paid plans are one-time, not subscriptions: Classic at $19 / ₹1,499 (unlimited uploads, 3-month upload window, 12 months of gallery viewing and storage, ZIP download, password protection, audio guestbook), Premier at $39 / ₹3,499 (PixelFind for every guest, 6-month upload window) and Grand at $69 / ₹5,499 (12-month upload window, 24 months of viewing and storage, EventPixel branding removed). Full detail: free plan limits and pricing.
Wrong pick if: you want guest video, or you want the files to live in your own Drive rather than a hosted gallery.
GuestPix (free demo: 50 photos, 30-day upload window)
GuestPix calls its free tier a demo, and that is the honest framing: unlimited guests, 50 photos, a digital invitation with RSVPs and a 30-day upload window. Paid packages are one-time and every one includes unlimited photos and videos, a live slideshow and a written and video guestbook: Classic at $49 (3-month upload window, 12 months of hosting), Signature at $89 (12 months of upload and hosting, custom colours and fonts) and the Signature Bundle at $119 (three galleries, 24 months from purchase). No face search is listed. Our GuestPix pricing breakdown and GuestPix alternatives pages go deeper.
Wrong pick if: you were hoping the free tier would carry the wedding. It is built to be outgrown at 50 photos.
Wedibox (free: 50 photos)
Wedibox's free plan is 50 guest photo uploads with the QR code and share link, co-organizer access and its scavenger-hunt challenges, described as a "small private gallery for your eyes only". Its pricing page states no upload deadline for free and says every plan stores the gallery for a year after the event. Paid tiers are one-time: Embed at $29 (a photo widget for a site you already built elsewhere, unlimited photos and videos, 3-month upload window), Wedding at $49 (unlimited uploads, audio guestbook, live slideshow, original-quality ZIP, 6-month upload window, a year of storage) and All-In-One at $79 (adds RSVP and seating, 1-year upload window, 2 years of storage). See Wedibox alternatives.
Wrong pick if: you want guests to browse the album on the free plan, or you want more than 50 photos without paying.
Kululu (free: 100 uploads, 24-hour window, 7-day storage)
Kululu's free plan is the most generous on format and the tightest on time: up to 100 photos and videos from unlimited guests, a digital album and live slideshow, but a 24-hour upload window, uploads saved for 7 days, and standard rather than original quality. The one-click album download is paid. Plus is $39 for 500 uploads, a 1-month window, 3 months of storage and original quality; Pro is $99 for unlimited uploads, a 3-month window and a year of storage. Comparison: Kululu vs EventPixel.
Wrong pick if: your guests upload the week after, or the family wants the album for longer than a week. A one-day window suits a party better than a wedding.
Pix Wedding (free: 20 uploads)
Pix Wedding offers 20 uploads to try with real guests and no card, which is a test rather than a plan. Paid tiers are one-time and shown at promotional prices against higher list prices: Starter at $49 (unlimited photos and video in original quality, 3-month upload window, 6 months of storage plus ZIP), Standard at $59 (adds the live slideshow, audio guestbook and a private link for your photographer, 6-month upload window, a year of storage) and Pro at $89 (adds AI selfie search, a custom domain, 1-year upload window, 2 years of storage).
Wrong pick if: you need to test with more than 20 uploads before deciding.
Fotify (free: 50 photos, 7-day window, 7-day gallery)
Fotify's free event holds 50 photos, optimised for quick upload rather than kept at full resolution, with a 7-day upload window and 7 days of gallery access, plus 20 invitations with RSVP and a live photo carousel. Paid events are priced by region; viewed from India on 3 October 2026 they were ₹1,999 (unlimited full-resolution photos, 30-day upload, 90-day access), ₹3,499 (90-day upload, a year of access, guest video clips) and ₹5,499 (collaborators, custom domain, more video). Fotify's strength is event management around the photos: seating, song requests, games. The free tier's 7-day access is the shortest in this group alongside Kululu's.
Wrong pick if: you want the gallery to stay open for the family for more than a week without paying.
WedUploader (free: unlimited, into your Google Drive)
WedUploader's free plan takes unlimited photos and video at original quality from unlimited guests and stores all of it in the host's Google Drive, in albums that never expire. What it holds back is everything that makes it a gallery: the real-time album gallery, slideshow photo wall, guestbook and voicemails are in the $49 one-time "Limitless" package, which covers every album on the account. The host signs up and connects a Google Drive, and the real cap is the Drive itself. Details: WedUploader alternatives.
Wrong pick if: you want guests to see each other's photos on the day, or you do not want to run the wedding through a personal Google account.
Also considered
Kwikpic is built around face recognition and its app is free to try, but guests sign up and register a selfie in the Kwikpic app, which puts it outside the no-app group above. GuestCam has no free tier (Standard $49, Premium $97, face search a $45 add-on) and is covered in our 12-app wedding roundup.
Which free plan fits which wedding
- Elopement or dinner for under 30: any capped free plan except Pix Wedding's 20 can work. EventPixel's 100 photos give the most room with a month to upload; Kululu's 100 includes video if everyone uploads the same day; Wedibox's no-deadline window is the most forgiving for late uploaders.
- 30 to 80 guests: expect a few hundred photos. No hosted free plan covers that. Compare first paid tiers instead: EventPixel $19, Wedibox $29 (embed) or $49, Kululu $39 (500 uploads), GuestPix and Pix Wedding $49, WedUploader $49 for the gallery.
- 100 guests and up: the free plan is your rehearsal. Set it up, print the signs, scan from two phones, then upgrade before the day. The thing to compare at this size is face search, because 2,000 photos without it is a scroll nobody finishes. Among these seven, EventPixel offers it to every guest from the $39 Premier plan and Pix Wedding from its $89 Pro plan; the others list none.
- You want the files, not a gallery: WedUploader free. Nothing else comes close.
How to test a free plan properly (20 minutes)
- Create the event with the real wedding date, because upload windows and gallery periods are usually tied to it, not to today.
- Download the QR code and scan it from two different phones, one iPhone and one Android, without signing in.
- Upload one photo from each, then check both appear in the gallery and in the host dashboard.
- Try to download a photo as a guest and as the host. Note which downloads, and which quality, are paid.
- Find the exact date the gallery closes to guests and put it in your calendar. If the app does not state one, assume it is short.
- Print one QR sign and scan it from across a table. A code that only scans up close will be ignored.
If the free plan passes all six, you have a working setup before you spend anything. Our guide to collecting wedding photos from guests covers the signs and the timing, and how to ask wedding guests to share photos has the messages that get people to actually upload.
FAQ
Is there a completely free wedding photo sharing app with no limits?
Only WedUploader has no photo cap on its free plan, because guests upload straight into your own Google Drive and the company stores nothing. The trade-off is that the free plan has no gallery page, so guests cannot see each other's photos, and your real limit is your Drive space. Every hosted app caps its free plan between 20 and 100 uploads.
Which free wedding photo sharing app has the highest photo limit?
Among hosted apps, EventPixel and Kululu share the highest free cap at 100. EventPixel's is 100 photos with a 30-day upload window after the event date and 14 days of guest gallery access. Kululu's is 100 photos and videos in standard quality, with a 24-hour upload window and uploads kept for 7 days. GuestPix, Wedibox and Fotify cap free at 50, and Pix Wedding at 20.
Do guests need to download an app to use a free wedding photo app?
Not for the seven apps compared here. Guests scan a QR code, the upload page opens in the phone's browser, and they choose photos without creating an account. Kwikpic is the exception in this category because its guests sign up and register a selfie in its app.
How long do free wedding photo galleries stay online?
It varies more than any other limit. Kululu keeps free uploads for 7 days and Fotify gives free galleries 7 days of access, EventPixel keeps the gallery open to guests for 14 days after the event and then locks it without deleting anything, and Wedibox states a year of storage on every plan. Check the gallery access period before the upload cap.
Can guests upload videos on a free wedding photo sharing plan?
On Kululu and WedUploader, yes. EventPixel accepts photos only on every plan. GuestPix and Wedibox list photos only on their free tiers, and Fotify adds guest video from its second paid tier.
What does the first paid tier cost if the free plan is not enough?
All seven charge one-time, not monthly. The cheapest upgrades are EventPixel at $19 / ₹1,499 for unlimited uploads, Wedibox at $29 for its embed widget or $49 for the full wedding plan, Kululu at $39 for 500 uploads, and GuestPix, Pix Wedding and WedUploader at $49. Fotify prices by region, at ₹1,999 per event viewed from India.

The honest conclusion
A free wedding photo sharing app is worth setting up today even if you know you will upgrade, because the free plan is where you learn whether the QR scans, whether your relatives can manage the upload page, and whether the gallery closes before the honeymoon ends. Pick on the gallery access period and the first paid price, not on the free cap. If you want to run that test now, create a free EventPixel event: 100 photos, no app for guests, and the upgrade is $19 one-time if you need it.
