Connect Your Photo Wall to a TV
Your live photo wall is just a web link, so anything with a browser can show it — a laptop on HDMI, a smart TV, a Chromecast, an Apple TV or a Fire TV Stick. Pick the setup that matches your venue.
First, get your link
Open your event in the dashboard and click Live Photo Wall. The link is your event address with /wall on the end — short enough to type on a TV remote. Open it on whichever device is attached to the screen, and leave it running. Photos appear as guests upload them, the wall loops on its own, and a QR code sits in the corner so anyone watching can add their own shots.
HDMI cable
Best for reliability — nothing to drop mid-reception
- 1Plug an HDMI cable from your laptop into a spare HDMI port on the TV or projector.
- 2Switch the TV input to that HDMI port.
- 3Open your photo wall link in any browser on the laptop.
- 4Press F (or the fullscreen button) to fill the screen.
Most venues already have an HDMI cable at the AV desk. Bring a USB-C to HDMI adapter if your laptop has no full-size port.
Smart TV browser
Best when no laptop is available
- 1Open the built-in web browser on the TV (most Samsung, LG and Android TVs have one).
- 2Type your photo wall link into the address bar.
- 3Leave it running — the wall keeps itself awake and updates on its own.
Typing a long URL with a TV remote is slow. Set a custom event URL in your dashboard first so the link stays short.
Chromecast / Google TV
Best for a wireless setup you can control from your seat
- 1Put the laptop and the Chromecast on the same Wi-Fi network.
- 2Open your photo wall link in Google Chrome.
- 3Click the three dots in the top-right corner of Chrome and choose Cast.
- 4Pick your Chromecast or TV, then choose Cast tab.
Keep the laptop awake and on the same network for the whole event — the cast stops if it sleeps or disconnects.
Apple TV / AirPlay
Best for Mac and iPad hosts
- 1Put your Mac or iPad and the Apple TV on the same Wi-Fi network.
- 2Open your photo wall link in Safari or Chrome.
- 3Click the AirPlay icon in the menu bar (or Control Centre → Screen Mirroring).
- 4Choose your Apple TV.
Turn off Do Not Disturb and screen sleep on the Mac first, or notifications will mirror onto the big screen too.
Fire TV Stick
Best for venues with a plain TV and no smart features
- 1Plug the Fire TV Stick into the TV and connect it to Wi-Fi.
- 2Install the Amazon Silk browser from the Fire TV app store.
- 3Open Silk and enter your photo wall link.
- 4Alternatively, mirror an Android phone or Windows laptop to the Stick.
Silk remembers the last page, so the wall comes straight back if the TV is switched off and on.
Common questions
Where do I find my photo wall link?
Open your event in the EventPixel dashboard and click Live Photo Wall. The link is your event address with /wall on the end, so it is easy to type into a TV browser by hand.
Do guests need Wi-Fi?
No. Only the screen showing the photo wall needs an internet connection. Guests upload over their own mobile data by scanning the QR code.
Do new photos appear without refreshing?
Yes. The wall listens for uploads in real time and moves a brand-new photo to the front of the queue, so a guest sees their photo on the big screen within seconds of uploading it.
Can I hide the QR code on the screen?
Yes. Press Q while the wall is open, or add ?qr=0 to the link. Most hosts leave it on, because the QR code on screen is what keeps new guests uploading all night.
Can I change how fast the photos change?
The easiest way is in your dashboard: Event Settings → Live Photo Wall lets you pick slow, normal or fast for every screen at once. You can still add ?speed=slow or ?speed=fast to a specific wall link to override it for that screen only. Without either, the wall shows one photo every six seconds.
Will the screen go to sleep?
The photo wall asks the browser to keep the screen awake. On a laptop, also set the power settings to never sleep while plugged in.
