Three things changed in between: Kululu's free cap rose from 50 to 100 uploads, its paid plans now list original quality, and the $39 and $99 prices are no longer shown as discounts.

In August Kululu's pricing page said 50 free uploads while its help centre said 100; the pricing page now says 100 as well. Re-checked October 3, 2026.
The 24-hour upload window is the sharpest difference between the two products, and the one most likely to catch people out. Guests keep finding photos on their camera rolls for days after a wedding — on the flight home, the following weekend, whenever they next clear their phone. With a one-day window, everything discovered after the event closes is lost. EventPixel keeps free uploads open for 30 days for exactly that reason.

Two things deserve a closer look here.
Quality. On paid plans the two are now level: Kululu lists original quality on Plus and Pro, and EventPixel returns original-quality files on every paid plan, starting at $19, with ZIP export throughout. On the free tiers, Kululu saves uploads in standard quality, and EventPixel lists original-quality saves as a paid-plan feature too.
Caps. Kululu's Pro tier describes uploads as unlimited, subject to its fair usage policy, which in August set that at 10,000 media uploads and 5,000 participants per event. Those are generous ceilings for most weddings, but they are ceilings, and a very large celebration with enthusiastic uploaders can approach them.
What Kululu does genuinely well
- Video on the free tier. Kululu's 100 free uploads can be photos or videos. EventPixel's guest uploads are photos only, on free and paid plans alike, so this is a genuine advantage for Kululu.
- Thorough live photo wall support, with dedicated setup guides for Chromecast, Apple TV, Fire TV, and smart TVs — more documentation than most competitors provide for getting the slideshow onto a screen at the venue.
- Automatic content moderation. AI screening for inappropriate uploads runs on the platform, which is a reassurance at large public-facing events.
- A clean, fast guest flow. Scan, upload, done — the part that matters most, done well.
- A dedicated business tier for event professionals running multiple events a month, with watermarking, lead capture, and photo-wall embeds.

Which should you choose?
Choose Kululu if you want free video uploads for a short, contained event where 24 hours of uploads and 7 days of viewing genuinely cover it — a birthday dinner, a corporate evening, a party where the photos matter for a week. Or if you are an event professional whose volume suits their monthly business plans.
Choose EventPixel if you are running a wedding or any event where photos keep surfacing for weeks, if you want guests to find themselves through face search, if you want unlimited uploads from $19, or if you want the website, RSVP, and invitations in the same place as the gallery.
Why the upload window matters more than the upload cap
Most people compare photo-sharing platforms on the number of uploads allowed. That is the wrong dial to focus on, and Kululu's free tier is the clearest illustration of why.
Think about how guest photos actually arrive. A handful get uploaded during the reception, usually by the same three enthusiastic people. A larger batch lands the next morning, when guests wake up, scroll their camera roll, and remember the QR code on the table. More trickle in over the following week — from the friend who was travelling, the aunt who needed her daughter to show her how, the groomsman who forgot entirely until someone mentioned it in the group chat.
That long tail is where a surprising share of the best candid photographs live, because they come from the guests who were enjoying themselves rather than documenting. A 24-hour upload window, as on Kululu's free plan, captures the first wave and loses most of the rest. A 30-day window, as on EventPixel's free plan, captures nearly all of it.
The same logic applies to viewing. A gallery that closes after 7 days is closed before most guests have thought to look at it twice. That is why EventPixel's free gallery locks rather than disappears: viewing pauses at 14 days, but the photos remain in safekeeping for a full year, so a couple who upgrades three months later gets everything back intact rather than discovering they lost the tail of their own wedding.
None of this makes Kululu's free tier a bad product. It makes it a product designed for a different shape of event — a party where the photos matter for a week, not a wedding whose photos matter for a decade.
A note on comparing quality claims
Photo quality is the hardest thing to compare across platforms, because the vocabulary is deliberately vague. "High quality" is not a technical term, and it does not mean the same thing as "original".
Kululu is clear about it on its pricing page: free uploads are saved in standard quality, and original quality starts on the $39 Plus plan. When we first checked in August its consumer plans said high quality, with originals reserved for business subscriptions, so this is a recent improvement worth knowing about if you read an older comparison.
This matters for two reasons. First, metadata — the timestamp and camera information embedded in each file — is what lets you sort a thousand guest photos into chronological order later, and it is routinely stripped during processing. Second, if you ever want a large print from a guest photo, the difference between an original file and a re-encoded one is visible.
