Yes, and this is the normal way to do it. Paying applies the plan to your event; activating it starts the clock. The two are separate steps, so buying in January for a September wedding costs you nothing in window time.
What works before you activate
Everything you need for invitations: the event website, your chosen design, the schedule, and the full RSVP form, including separate events to attend, meal choices and an invitation code. Guests can RSVP from the day you share the link. Photo uploads also work, capped at 100 until you activate.
What activation does
Open the event in your dashboard and click Activate Event. The plan switches on straight away: unlimited uploads, the guestbook and voicemail. You also pick a start date, anywhere from today up to your event day. The plan's upload period (3 months on Classic, 6 on Premier, 12 on Grand) and its storage period count from that date. The date cannot be changed once set, so pick it with the event in mind. The picker suggests your event date.
A sensible timeline
- Whenever you like: create the event, choose a design, add the schedule and RSVP form, and send the link with your invitations.
- Before printing: download the QR code and test it. The code does not change when you activate, so print early if you want to.
- Any time before the event: activate, and set the start date to the first day you expect photos, for example the day of the first function on a multi-day wedding.
- On the day: nothing to switch on. The plan has been on since you activated.
