Yes, and this is the normal way to do it. The upload window and the gallery viewing period are both counted from the event date you enter, not from the day you create the event or the day you pay. Buying in January for a September wedding costs you nothing in window time.
What "activated" means
An event is activated when a paid plan is applied to it. Until then it runs on free limits: 100 guest photos, a 30-day upload window and a 14-day gallery viewing period after the event. When you upgrade, the caps lift immediately and the windows are recalculated from your event date at the paid plan's length.
A sensible timeline
- Whenever you like: create the event, choose a design, add the schedule and RSVP form.
- Before printing: download the QR code and test it. The code does not change when you upgrade, so print early if you want to.
- Before the event: upgrade if you expect more than 100 photos. A typical wedding of 100 guests produces several hundred to a few thousand photos, so the free cap is meant for small gatherings and testing.
- On the day: nothing to switch on. Uploads open on the event date automatically.
Changing the event date later
You can edit the date under Edit Event Details at any time before the event. The windows move with it.
